Mom Bomb

Celebrating July 4th with a BANG!  Two pictures (three if you count the one in my scraps) that finish off my renditions of the bomb type monsters of Final Fantasy!

The Mom Bomb is neither female nor a mother, but is instead a giant moving portal to the plane where ancient automated forges create bombs of all types.  While any kind of bomb can exit this portal (located in its mouth), the most common to come out of it is the Bombling, a small volatile version of its larger brethren.  In ancient wars, these creatures roamed battlefields virtually exuding these small explosives en masse, and a misunderstanding borne from the assumption that the Mom Bomb was in fact giving birth to these monsters gave rise to the term "Mom Bomb", which stuck, even after scholars discovered the truth.  The most interesting part of the portal is that it only functions in one direction; the obvious intent being that anything exiting the portal was never meant to return.

Drawn in pencil, then scanned and colored in Photoshop with a Wacom tablet. Took about 2 days, just for the sheer volume of work to do.

This was made as a part of a larger (self-imposed) project of creating stat blocks for Final Fantasy monsters for use with the 4.0 edition of D&D, with illustrations of each character to go with it.  God only knows when it will be done, so for now I'm uploading the images at least.
